704 HAUSER (CBS 1994) EXTREMELY RARE!!! BROADCAST QUALITY!!! John Amos, Maura Tierney, Lynnie Godfrey, T.E. Russell
Check out a piece of television history with 704 Hauser, the rare and short-lived 1994 sitcom from the mind of All in the Family creator Norman Lear.
Set in the iconic house at 704 Hauser Street in Queens, New York, formerly owned by Archie Bunker. This thought-provoking series flips the script on the classic premise by introducing a new family with fresh perspectives.
This time, the house is occupied by the Cumberbatches, an African American family whose patriarch, Ernie Cumberbatch (John Amos), is a proud, working-class liberal Democrat and a veteran of the 1960s civil rights battles. Ernie's political beliefs clash with those of his live-at-home adult son, Thurgood Marshall "Goodie" Cumberbatch (T.E. Russell), a conservative young man with a very different vision for America, an arch-conservative who listens to Rush Limbaugh talk radio and dates Cherlyn Markowitz (Maura Tierney), a white Jewish girl from down the street, who brings her own unique voice to the household dynamics. Ernie’s wife, Rose (Lynnie Godfrey), adds warmth and wisdom as the matriarch trying to keep the family together amidst their generational and ideological differences.
704 Hauser not only provides humor but tackles serious social and political issues, continuing the tradition of Lear’s groundbreaking shows. Despite its short run, the series offers a rich exploration of family, politics, and race in America.
This complete series DVD set includes all 6 episodes. It’s a must-watch for fans of classic sitcoms with a modern twist, or anyone interested in exploring the continuing legacy of Norman Lear's socially conscious television.
Don't miss out on this rare Norman Lear gem.
