Many laughs can happen when you have a ghost living in your home! This classic series is based on the 1945 book of the same name, by R.A. Dick, and the 1947 feature film. It stars Hope Lange as Carolyn Muir, a young widow and writer who, needing a new start in life rents Gull Cottage, near the fictional fishing village of Schooner Bay, Maine. Along with her are her two children Jonathan (Harlen Carraher) and Candace (Kellie Flanagan), housekeeper Martha (Reta Shaw) and their dog Scruffy.

Claymore Gregg (Charles Nelson Reilly) rents the cottage to Mrs. Muir without telling her it is haunted by his ancestor and its former owner Daniel Gregg (Edward Mulhare), a 19th-century sea captain.  Captain Gregg at first resists this intrusion, but he soon develops a ghostly love for his uninvited guests.
