Like most schools, Excelsior Union High School has clearly defined groups. When Jay Jay Manners (Michael J. Fox), class clown and champion of the nerds falls for Beth Franklin (Nancy McKeon), girlfriend of town aristocrat Beau Middleton (Anthony Edwards), Beau & his friends set out to ruin Jay Jay's reputation. The fierce competition culminates in an auto race to settle things.
