HURRCANE, THE (1937)

An intolerant Governor (Raymond Massey) sets off a series of tragic events in the idyllic Pacific paradise, disrupting the peaceful lives of newlywed islanders Terangi (Jon Hall), and Marama (Dorothy Lamour). Terangi is wrongfully imprisoned by racist officials and after many failed escape attempts, additional years are added to his original six-month jail term. Terangi finally succeeds in returns to Marama after a long absence, but only to be confronted with one of the most savage national disasters to ever hit the island. Also stars: Mary Astor, C.
