WKRP IN CINCINNATI: THE COMPLETE SERIES (CBS 1978-82) Loni Anderson, Howard Hesseman, Gordon Jump, Gary Sandy, Tim Reid, Richard Sanders, Jan Smithers, Frank Bonner
When the station’s new ambitious program director Andy Travis (Gary Sandy) arrives at WKRP he shakes things up at the sleepy radio station by changing its format from its dated easy listening music to a rock format, in spite of opposition from the station owner and the Lawrence Welk fan base.
Andy goes to work to turn things around with the help and well-meaning efforts of the mostly incompetent staff: bumbling station manager Arthur Carlson (Gordon Jump), slick sales manager Herb Tarlek (Frank Bonner), and clueless news director Les Nessman (Richard Sanders).
To help bolster ratings, Travis hires a new disc jockey, New Orleans native Gordon Sims (Tim Reid) who takes on the on-air persona of Venus Flytrap; and allows spaced-out former major market DJ Dr. Johnny Fever (Howard Hesseman), already doing mornings in the easy listening format as John Caravella, to be himself.
Rounding out the staff are super levelheaded blonde bombshell receptionist Jennifer Marlowe (Loni Anderson) and enthusiastic junior employee Bailey Quarters (Jan Smithers). Lurking in the background and making an occasional appearance is ruthless business tycoon Lillian Carlson (Carol Bruce), the station's owner and the mother of Arthur Carlson.
