ELLEN SHOW, THE - THE COMPLETE SERIES (CBS 2001-02) Ellen DeGeneres, Cloris Leachman, Martin Mull, Emily Rutherfurd, Jim Gaffigan, Kerri Kenney, Diane Delano
After visiting where she grew up to accept an award, Ellen Richmond (Ellen DeGeneres) decides to trade the stresses of her fast-track, big-city lifestyle for the slower pace of her quieter hometown, where she is known and loved.
It remains to be seen, however, whether or not returning to live with her eccentric mother, Dot (Cloris Leachman), and scatter-brained sister, Catherine (Emily Rutherfurd), is the best course of action. At home, Ellen becomes reacquainted with her senior prom date, Rusty (Jim Gaffigan), who thinks they can pick up where they left off, and her befuddled high school teacher, Mr. Munn (Martin Mull), now principal. Munn offers Ellen the job of student counselor where she interacts with home economics teacher Pam (Kerri Kenney) and P.E. instructor Bunny Hopstetter (Diane Delano), who, unfortunately for Ellen, becomes quite attracted to her. Though she is worlds apart from the people who love her, Ellen begins to adjust to a very different way of life.
Notable guest stars included Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White, Ed Asner, Maureen McCormick, John Ritter, Tom Poston, Dakota Fanning and Kaley Cuoco.
Unable to attract strong audience the series was cancelled mid-season and only the first thirteen episodes aired. This 2-disc set contains all 18 episodes produced, including the five unaired.
