Sleek, sophisticated, and endlessly entertaining, Banacek redefines the classic whodunit with a sharp-witted hero and a touch of glamor. This Emmy-nominated mystery series keeps audiences guessing until the very last reveal.

Originally part of NBC’s Mystery Movie lineup, Banacek was created by the powerhouse duo Levinson and Link, the minds behind Columbo, Mannix, and Ellery Queen.

Set against the backdrop of Boston’s elite society, the show blends high-stakes intrigue, dry humor, and clever Polish proverbs like “A truly wise man never plays leapfrog with a unicorn.”

George Peppard stars as Thomas Banacek, a suave and brilliant freelance insurance investigator who specializes in recovering high-value stolen goods. Working on commission, he only takes on the most baffling cases—vanishing armored cars, priceless missing artifacts, and seemingly impossible thefts.

Though he doesn’t need the money—living lavishly in a Beacon Hill mansion with a chauffeured limo—Banacek thrives on the thrill of outsmarting criminals and rivals alike.

With occasional help from his driver Jay Drury (Ralph Manza) and sophisticated bookshop-owning friend Felix Mulholland (Murray Matheson) and rival investigators Penniman (Linden Chiles), Banacek always stays one step ahead. Season two introduces Christine Belford as Carlie Kirkland, a sharp-tongued investigator who becomes both a rival and a romantic interest.

At the end of each episode, Banacek unveils his masterful deductions, ensuring viewers are left both amazed and entertained. A must-watch for mystery lovers, Banacek delivers style, wit, and intrigue in every story.
