On the Rocks is an American sitcom that was centered around the inmates of Alomesa Minimum Security prison. The show was broadcast on ABC from September 11, 1975 to May 17, 1976. Originally telecast after Barney Miller, ABC promoted the two shows with the tagline "Funny cops, and funny robbers". It was based on the British series Porridge,” and was written by the same authors, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.

The shows main setting was the cellblock containing prisoners Hector Fuentes (Jose Perez), Lester DeMott (Hal Williams), Nicky Palik (Bobby Sandler) and Cleaver (Rick Hurst), with each of the four usually having some involvement in the plot of the episode.  The cast also featured Tom Poston as guard Mr. Sullivan, Mel Stewart as guard Mr. Gibson and Logan Ramsey as Warden Wilbur Poindexter.

This extremely rare, impossible-to-find, 70s sitcom features four out of the twenty-four episodes produced.

The episodes on the single DVD contain:

  • Episode 1 - "Old Fish, New Fish" (9/11/75) - Streetwise and wisecracking, Hector Fuentes returns just a little less than triumphant to his minimum-security prison. He begins his latest term by showing the ropes to naive first-time inmates.

  • Episode 3 – “The Wagers of Sin” (9/25/75) - Warden Poindexter is intent on cracking down on gambling in the prison and takes extreme measures. But the ban has the opposite effect on Fuentes making him want to gamble even more.

  • Episode 8 – “Dear John” (10/30/75) - It’s visiting day at the prison and Palik, expecting to see his fiancé, gets a visit from his mother (Anne Morgan Guilbert) delivering a “Dear John” letter letting him know she married another man.

  • Episode 12 – “The High and the Mighty” Pt 1 (12/4/75) - Fuentes' new cellmate (Sorrell Booke) turns out to be one of the warden's wartime buddies and the judge who had just re-sentenced him to two years in the prison.
